In the process of switching and ditching our shower, I just ran out of shaving cream and decided to make this next.

The problem with traditional shaving creams and gels is that they’re often made with toxic ingredients that can damage the skin and cause a host of other issues, entering through your body when your pores are open and vulnerable.

Shaving creams are filled with propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, emulsifiers, and artificial fragrances. These are items we want to stay away from. The shaving cream I make is so creamy and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth.

Your skin is worth the switch!

This is what you'll need:

Ingredients: 1/3 Cup Coconut Oil 1/3 Cup Shea Butter 1/4 Cup Almond Oil (Can be substituted but I love how Almond Oil makes my skin smooth) 10-20 Drop Essential Oil (I used orange but its your choice!)

Utencils: Mixing Bowl Double Boiler or Microwave Mixer Glass Jars to store Instructions 1. Weigh out Coconut Oil and Shea Butter and melt. Can be melted on stove or in microwave. 2. Once fully melted add in Almond Oil and stir. 3. Set in refrigerator until the mixture is firm. 4. Take out of refrigerator when firm and add in essential oils. Use mixer for 2-3 minutes until whipped. 5. Scoop into glass jars and store in cool dry area and out of direct sunlight. 6. Enjoy! Please let me know if you enjoyed this recipe!

Whether it's the Fourth of July, New Year’s Eve, or another celebration, many dog owners deal with howling, barking, and generally anxious dogs during fireworks. It’s even largely believed that Independence Day is the day when the highest number of dogs run away.

If you are unsure of how your dog or cat might react, pets that don’t cope well during thunderstorms are likely to get scared of fireworks. There are ways to help calm your pets during this time.

1. Keep Your Dog Away From Fireworks Bringing your pets to go view the fireworks with you might not be the best idea. Keep them home safe and locked up.

2. Make Sure Your Pet Has Proper ID Have your pet collar up to date and there are plenty of GPS tags like apple tag to track your pet quickly. Being microchipped is a good idea too.

3. Create a Safe Haven For Your Pet Try setting up an area in a quiet space away from windows (basement, closet, or bathroom with no windows) so that they can’t hear or see fireworks. Use a crate if that’s where your dog feels safe. 4. Play White Noise You can try leaving a fan, TV, or radio on to help mask the sounds of the fireworks.

5. Comfort Your Pet If you can, try staying home with your dog or cat or leave them in the hands of a trusted person. 6. Walk Them Before the Fireworks Start Head out for your long walk before the sun sets to increase the chances that you’ll avoid the sounds. When you do go out, you’ll want to ensure your dog is secure on a leash before your walk.

7. Talk to Your Vet If your pet’s anxiety is severe, consider booking an appointment with your vet well in advance of July 4 so you can discuss a medication that could help soothe your pets anxiety. Using CBD is a great natural option to help relieve anxiety. Many vets are now recommending it.

My dear friend Violet has been on a beautiful journey with Reiki. As a person that in interested in more of a holistic approach to things I thought we could do a collaboration together.

I'm sure you're wondering, what is Reiki?

Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the practitioner can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

Why would it be beneficial for you?

Reiki promotes relaxation, stress reduction and symptom relief to improve overall health and well-being

What does it mean when a product is infused with Reiki?

Reiki, translated as spiritually-guided life force energy, is not exclusively channeled to humans and pets. In fact, Reiki can be channeled to inanimate objects such as crystals, jewelry, baths, and oracle cards. The list of ways to use Reiki energy is endless.

How can you use Reiki principles in your daily life?

  1. Recognize and release angry feelings. The first principle, “I release angry thoughts,” focuses on improving your relationship with anger.

  2. Recognize and let go of worry.

  3. Practice gratitude.

  4. Recognize your own consciousness.

  5. Practice kindness.

Violet, Reiki infused every single ingredient in these salves. She also charged the crystals. Thats right, you receive a crystal on the bottom of every jar!

The Postpartum and Birthing salve is made with magnesium. Studies show that a severe deficiency in magnesium can lead to postpartum depression. By keeping your magnesium levels nice and high, through delivery and into the first few days of motherhood, you can lower your chances of postpartum depression. This is likely due to the relaxing, calming attributes of magnesium. It has a mix of essential oils for postpartum healing as well, with scents of Lavender, Frankincense, and Clary Sage.

Our Reiki Soul Salve, is a wonderful option to breathe in before you start your day. I like to put a small amount in my palms, breathe in the scent and count to three. I then use it as a hand balm and rub some on my temples for more relief.

Violet is a 6th Generation Traditional Usui Reiki Master.
